Reconstructive Urology
Stricture Urethra is the passage emerging from urinary bladder through which we pass urine. Due to injury, infection or at times without apparent cause a part or all of the passage becomes narrow. For a short segment, laser surgery may help. However there is a fair chance that the stricture recurs.
The narrowing, if persistence causes raised pressure in the urinary bladder, and eventually in the kidneys & it has to be treated. The urethra needs to be reconstructed this is called Urethroplasty. This operation requires skills, patience & perseverance. We are proud to say that our center is one of the well known ones this area of expertise.
We have done, successfully, many surgeries. We have also presented videos & done live demonstrations of these surgeries at various conferences in India, China, Europe and USA. This problem is also seen in female patients and many times neglected. Our center has the largest single center number of curative surgeries for this problem in India.
